Terms of Use
Last updated 2026-10-12
These terms govern the use of Kapten, a management-consulting service operated by DBU Group in the Kingdom of Bahrain. By creating an account or using Kapten, you and the company you act for agree to them. A signed agreement with DBU Group takes precedence where it differs.
1. The service
Kapten helps a company understand its position, weigh decisions, research markets and plan execution. It combines software, an AI analysis engine and, where a package includes it, review by DBU Group's advisors.
Access is by invitation: a company requests access and DBU Group approves a trial or a paid package.
2. Advice, not decisions
Kapten's analysis, recommendations and reports are decision support. They are based on the information available to it, which it states, and on assumptions, which it labels. They are not legal, tax, audit or investment advice.
Decisions remain the company's. A DBU Review is a professional opinion on a report as it stood when reviewed; it does not transfer responsibility for the decision.
An AI engine can be wrong, even when it cites a source. Check anything consequential at its source before acting on it.
3. Packages, trials and payment
Each package includes defined allowances, set out in Settings › Subscription. Work beyond an allowance may need approval or an add-on.
A trial lasts three days with limited allowances and no exports; it ends automatically.
Packages are invoiced by DBU Group and payable within 14 days of the invoice unless agreed otherwise. A package starts once payment is confirmed. Unpaid invoices may lead to the package being paused; the company's data is kept.
Prices may change with 30 days' notice; a change never applies to a period already paid.
4. Your data
The company owns the information it puts into Kapten and what Kapten produces from it. DBU Group uses it only to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
A company owner can export the company's data at any time and can ask for the organisation to be deleted, with a 30-day period to withdraw the request.
5. Acceptable use
Do not upload material you have no right to share — including personal data you have no lawful basis to process — try to reach another company's data, probe or overload the service, resell access, or use Kapten for anything unlawful.
Each person keeps their own sign-in private. A company is responsible for who it invites and what they do.
6. Guests and shared rooms
A company may invite people from outside it — a board member, an advisor, an investor — into a shared room. The company chooses what is shared there and with whom, and is responsible for having the right to share it.
A guest uses Kapten only for the rooms they are invited to, keeps what they see confidential, and does not pass it on. A guest's view on a decision is advisory: the company's own people decide.
7. Third-party content
Market watch and research show what third-party sources said, with a link to each. DBU Group does not write, endorse or guarantee that content, and is not responsible for the sites it links to.
8. Confidentiality
DBU Group treats each company's material as confidential. Its staff reach a company's data only to support or review it, and every such access is logged with its reason.
9. Intellectual property
Kapten — its software, methods, frameworks and wording — belongs to DBU Group. The company keeps what it owns under section 4; nothing in these terms transfers either to the other.
10. Availability and changes
We work to keep Kapten available and back it up nightly, but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a capability a paid package includes during a period already paid.
Neither side is responsible for a failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control, such as a failure of a provider's network, a natural disaster or an act of government.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, DBU Group's total liability for any claim is limited to the fees the company paid for Kapten in the 12 months before the claim, and DBU Group is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit or a business decision taken using Kapten. [to be confirmed]: to be reviewed by counsel.
12. Ending the service
A company may stop at the end of any paid period. DBU Group may suspend or end access for a serious breach of these terms or non-payment, after notice where possible.
After the service ends, the company's data is kept, so it can come back or export it, until the owner asks for the organisation to be deleted, or for [to be confirmed] (proposed: 12 months), whichever comes first.
13. Law, disputes and language
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
These terms are published in Arabic and English. If the two differ, the [to be confirmed] (proposed: Arabic) text prevails.
